Sensors cause 40 to 60 percent of derates. Aftertreatment failures climb sharply between 300,000 and 450,000 miles. Both are predictable, and both are cheaper to schedule than to discover on the shoulder.

One thing about this place. Is they are always so backed up because of the quality work they do. I took my International Pro star there that was having oil pressure loss issues after going through 3 different shops sometime back. Took these guys some time to find the problem however they did not give up and found the issue. Fixed the problem at a fair price and I have not had issues with this truck since. A++ for Roman & Graig thank you guys for the quality work.

Where we work
The shop is on Kitty Ave in Chicago Ridge, a few minutes off I-294 and I-55. Most of what we see comes out of the southwest suburbs. The towns below are the ones we work in most often, and if you are further out than that it is worth a call first, because how far we travel depends on what is wrong with the truck.

Do you take walk-ins or is it appointment only?
Both — call ahead if you can, but we handle walk-in and drop-off service too.
Can you fix a derate over the phone?
No — a derate code points to a circuit, not a specific part. We read it in person before telling you what’s actually wrong.
Is a derate always the DPF?
No. Sensors cause 40 to 60 percent of derates — DEF quality, NOx sensors, and wiring are just as likely as the filter itself.
Will clearing the code fix it?
Clearing the code without finding the cause just delays the same derate. We trace it first.
What does a diagnostic visit cost?
Depends on how many systems are involved and how long it takes to isolate the actual cause. We can give you a better sense once we’ve pulled the codes.
